Although Turkey is in Europe the country doesn’t accept Euros and instead uses its own currency called the lira. Therefore, holidaymakers visiting the country will need to go to their nearest Bureau de Change before they leave the country and stock up on the lira. One lira is worth around 0.36 Great British pounds. However, there was a time when the lira was vastly inflated and because of this the currency was changed in 2005 with 1 New Turkish Lira worth the same as 1,000,000 of the old Turkish lira. Gone is the time when you could become a millionnaire just by booking hotel deals to Turkey.
