NYSF X Baruch

A lot of things have been going on with NYSF and Baruch College in terms of photography. Lately we have been into a lot of the schools activities especially in their theatre department.
Recently we were asked to be apart of making the theatre center more known. So we had the opportunity of capturing images of a performance in their Recital hall. It was pretty fun, and exclusive at the same time since we were given the whole front row to work.
We also had the honor of taking head-shots for some actors, and actresses of the Baruch Movie Makers Club which was also fun.
Look out for NYSF Collaborations with other blog sites such as Bizy Dreaming which will be interesting.

MTA Fare Hike

Usually when a company does something outrageous like increasing its products prices, the consumer has the choice to switch to the cheaper product, an advantage of the Free Market. However MTA, being a monopoly, has the advantage of no competitors. A Monopoly is an organization that has total control over its market, this includes control over pricing. So when the M.T.A. raises its prices the consumers in New york have no choice, but to pay it.

Here are a few of the price jumps that will take effect May 31 2009. The regular fare of $2.00 will now be $2.50, one-day pass will jump from $7.50 to $9.50, 14-day pass from $47 to $59, and the monthly from $81 to $103.

Also 1,100 Blue collar jobs will be cut, and 1,000 white collar jobs will be cut. Needless to say people are outraged at these hikes, especially if you are a college student, or have a job that requires you to take the bus, or train. What can you do though if you go to school, or in your job is in Manhattan. MTA is hands down the cheapest way to commute even with these price hikes, and if they jumped again they will still be the cheapest way to travel around New York.

Mr. Complex West.

Kanye takes a new approach to mag. covers, no? This cover is so serious.. probably the best Complex cover i've seen since the Cassie x N.E.R.D. cover shoot. Anywho, this interview is literally all about the most anticipated sneaker since... i don't know, the DMP pack, maybe? Ye explains where the ideas for the shoe came from, you know, the origins and whatnot...
April 7th, this will be on stands.
I guess when you get a chance to sit next to Tinker Hatfield (Jordan designer) your mind has no choice but to run wild. Kanye took advantage, and now you have the Air Yeezys, set to release in April. Head over to Complex for the full interview!

Palm Pre, the "Iphone Killer"

The competition goes on as Sprint unveils whats now being called the "Iphone Killer"(this might be old news but i know people haven't seen it yet). I don't see how thats possible. When will everyone just accept the fact that the Iphone is in its own category?lol.

This phone does have some cool features. The inbox set up is pretty cool and the wireless charger is a plus. Definitely something new thats being brought to the table, but still... this isn't enough. Iphone> Blackberry Storm > Palm Pre, any day.

Dishware?

Designs from all over the world really inspires me to get into different things. My imagination seems to always run wild at any given time of the day. It just so happens that i was thinking about dishware today in my english and then i reach home and come across some really nice pieces of work. I wouldn't be surprised if i got into this in the near future...
Each design is really unique in it on way. This is the "Smiley Bowl" design. The name is pretty self-explanatory. I really can't wait to get my own apartment. It really will be a place of wonders. Innovative and limitless, probably the best words to describe it.

Must Be Love

Cassie hit the studio with Diddy for this track. I love it, not only because i love Cassie, but because it really does sound like a classic. The instruments that were used really make the beat what it is.

Seriously...

Had to get this out... so don't mind any errors.
So Rihanna and Chris are back together, I'm not surprised. I'm not gonna discuss that, but i am going to touch on the message she's sending young girls. She made it seem like getting back with him was the right thing to do. Now, I'm not hating on their relationship or anything, but after what Chris did to her, why would she go back? I know the saying goes "Love Hurts", but that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to abuse your girl in order to prove a point or keep her around. I never understood how a man can call himself... a MAN after hitting whats supposed to be his "significant other." How does that benefit you? You should be labeled as a coward if anything...
Abusive relationships within the demographic of the youth today is at an all time high. Unfortunately the numbers increase on yearly basis. Do you have ever wonder why women stay around when things get physical. Many women put abuse and love in the same category like fries and ketchup. Personally, i would never lay a hand on my other half just to get a point across. Maybe its the lack of respect that men have for the important women in their life, I.e, your mother. Would you ever lay a hand on your mom?No, so why lay a hand on someone you love. The bottom line is, love isn't supposed to hurt... at all.

Make Love.

Its Keri baby!

Free Tibet!

Now most people don't know this, but today marks the 50th Anniversary of when China took over Tibet. In fact I didn't even know this. I just happened to be walking from one building to another, of my college campus, and heard a loud ruckus. I seen a large group of people with flags, and police following behind them. Luckily, I had my camera and was able to snap a few shots. I stopped one of the protesters, and he told me that they had been fighting to be free for 50 years now. Really crazy when you think of it. Yet many are in the dark when it comes to this topic, so i thought I'd blog about it to shine a little light on it.

Khoda

This is pretty cool, here's a 5 minute video made of 6,000 paintings. This was made by Reza Dolatabadi, a college kid, for his graduating class, and took 2 years to make. Kudos to Reza, Very Creative.

Child Labor

Child Labor from Donnell Culver on Vimeo.
Have you ever looked at a kid staring into the abyss, and wondered the creative thought racing through his/her mind? What goes through a Pure mind uncorrupted by the world we live in today. What creative images are created in the head of a 9 year old? If only i could capture that image.

West talks in DETAIL

We all wanna know what's up with Mr. West...
`This issue of DETAILS mag. gives you the full scoop on Kanye and what he has in mind for the future. Ivan Solotaroff got personal with Mr. West, asking questions that range from music to fashion and even a question about his love life hence the album, 808's & Heartbreak.
Photos by, Steven Klein

"Kids'll say, 'Dude, those pants are are gay.' I think that should be said as a compliment. Like, 'dude, thats so good it's almost...gay!', 'Dude, you pay real attention to detail, that's almost, like, gay!' 'You had a whole conversation with that girl without bringing up sex? That was, like, gay!' - Kanye.

Snow Day!!!

"Don't Believe the Hype" is what my mother told me when I told her there would be a massive pile up of that white stuff kids love so much. And guess who is in the bed right now Haha!!. I guess i forgot to tell her of the 100% chance of snow. OOps! I Love this weather mostly because of the fact that I was born in it, and also because i loath the summer's UV Rays. However I am thrilled this weather has me home rather than in school. There hasn't been a snow day in years, and when I first heard of this storm I couldn't believe it. Makes me feel like I'm back in Junior High when we prayed the snow would stop. I just cant wait for the snow to harden for a Good Ol' Fashion Snow Ball Fight.

Haunting In Connecticut

Based on a true story, Haunting In Connecticut is sure to have your hairs stand up. Im a Horror movie fanatic and i must say, this movie reminds of The Amityville Horror. Suspense is the key to a successful horror movie, right? right. -You be the judge on this one.
March 27th, the haunting begins...
